Naked Lake started with a project in mind. I am not one to journal, I often find that writing is quite hard because I feel my articulation never translates to what I really feel. each month since starting testosterone in August of 2020, I wrote and recorded a song as I evolved as a way of keeping something like a journal, but in a way that is more expressive to me, and could also be used as a resource for others evolving.
I knew I could not do this alone, and I needed more support. I found Jordan, and thus how Naked Lake is Naked Lake. I am appreciative every day that we connected (shoutout to DIY Philly facebook group… haha). As I recorded rough, rough instrumental tracks to accompany what would be the final vocal tracks, the collaboration process was vital, and always is.
We started cracking down on this album about a year ago, but it had been in the making a year prior to that, and it was unreal putting it all together, creating a body, where I had just brought some bones. It has been an absolutely insane adventure, so many huge life alterations and things that we as a team dealt with. Originally, we wanted this album to be out in September of 2021, lol. However, I think all of the setbacks were truly FOR us, as we were able to get it to a place of honest and raw beauty. I am beyond grateful to call all members of naked lake, including our most exquisite and kind manager- Jo Morgan @a.jomorgan, a support system that only continues to listen, to create, to love, to explore. Today is the release of Pictures of God, which was written and vocally recorded the third month I was on testosterone.
So here is little taste of our baby, debut LP, “Should We Go Home Now?.” We urge folks to actively listen if able :)
